Dekker Mock Draft 3.0
Here we go. Final mock draft before the official NFL Draft starts tonight at 8pm Eastern.
I think that most of you will find this to be absurd. However, this draft is labeled as the most confusing draft ever given that there are no “generational talents” found at the top as well as it being a “weak” QB class. As I’ve stated before, I am in the minority opinion that there are some great prospects at the QB position this year.
With that being said, the first QB off the board in this draft is a surprise. Again, trades will likely occur, but I opted to not attempt any for consistency with my predictive method drafting. Please enjoy the chaos below:
- Yes, Hutchinson falls to the Texans at 3. No one really knows which players are rated higher on each team’s draft board and for what it’s worth. I definitely see the Lions being interested in Thibodeaux and basically becoming the Detroit Ducks... Okay, thats not the reason why they choose him over Hutch. I really think that he has been the number one edge for over a year and likely was never going to fall. I would guess another team created those rumors about his character in hopes that he would possibly knock him from the top so they could draft him. Weird concept, but it isn‘t impossible to believe.
- The Panthers take Matt Corral in a very surprising turn of events. He showcased well as a dual threat and play action QB in the tough SEC, and I think that Panthers view him as potential starter to compete with Darnold this year. In other news, I believe the Falcons have done an incredible job of hiding their true intentions with #8. They want Willis all along but don‘t have to trade up to get him. Later on, the Saints pick Ridder with #19. The NFC South rivalries will be extra heated the next few years as we all see which team picked the right guy
- Jordan Davis falls to #21 to the Patriots. I feel like he fits the Vince Wilfork type of DT that can be very effective in that defense.
- Kansas City will likely not be using their picks back to back, so I wouldn’t put it past them to trade up into the early teens. However, if they stay put they pickup a great offensive weapon in Burks and a young talent in Jackson to get cheaper at a vital position in the future
- Packers double dip in receiver.. I don‘t think that they get a chance to trade for a veteran WR before the draft tonight and for the first time in Aaron Rodgers tenure, go all in to getting him talent at the position with London and then Pickens
- I have seven Cornerbacks going in the first round which would definitely be an NFL record. However, there is such a need to have a good secondary in today‘s NFL so a few of these guys could be reaches, but that doesn’t mean its a bad pick necessarily. Always can use depth at a vital position
