Seltzr Guy Six-Pack: Week 18
Here we are. The regular season finale.
I definitely dropped the ball the last month or so on getting my posts up on time or even at all. Nonetheless, I have been tracking my bets as stated many times before and will have an end of the year review highlighting any trends in the data that I can carry over into the NFL Playoffs as well as next season.
I’ll likely pivot to some NFL Draft / Scouting content in the coming weeks, but I will continue to strive for putting up a blog post once a week for you, my well appreciated readers!
Perhaps we could finally get that perfect six pack to end the year. Thanks for following along!
1) ML - Money line
Seattle is playing on the road against the 49ers on Saturday night. I’ve been pretty high on the Seahawks all season and that won’t change now with the division and potentially #1 seed in the NFC on the line. JSN has had an electric year which I believe will end on a very high note with a couple of touchdowns against this injured secondary. I’ll take the ML for the Seahawks at -135!
2) O/U - Over / Under
For the final O/U of the season, I’m going to go back to the winning well of the Dallas Cowboys. They play the Giants in what some would call a meaningless game. It is a higher total for the Week 18 slate, but I’ll bet on the over 50.5 points at -109 odds!
3) Point Spread
For some reason the Falcons play their best football when they have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. Over the last ten years, they have a 12-4 record when playing in games after being mathematically eliminated during the regular season. They look to end the season on a 4 game winning streak which some might believe will be enough to convince the team not to fire Raheem Morris. I hope that they don’t make it four in a row, so that we can just start fresh with a new coach. The talent and potential is there: it is the coaching that has caused them to sputter out mid season. Nonetheless, the numbers don’t lie; it should be an easy win taking Falcons -3.5 at home against a rookie QB. Bet it at -109 odds!
4) Receptions
Going with Tet McMillon to grab 5+ catches at -112 odds tomorrow night.With the Panthers on the cusp of securing the NFC South, i think Bryce Young will attempt to get his WR1 the ball as early and often as he can. This game feels like it will be a shootout for no other reason than it just could be. The NFC South has such weird games against each other. Could be 34-31 or 14-10. Either way, I think Tet gets 8-10 targets this game which should easily pass the 5 catch mark.
5) Anytime Touchdown Bet
Rico Dowdle of the Carolina Panthers has had an incredible year for someone who signed as free agent just a couple months ago. He has a bonus incentive that kicks in if he scores one more touchdown during the regular season. He didn’t have a great outing against Tampa Bay two weeks ago, but I think he will get some red zone touches which will turn into a score or two. Bet him to score at -103 odds!
6) Passing TDs
The Broncos are still in the running for the #1 seed in the AFC. They won’t lay down and rest their starters with the first round bye within reach. The Chargers meanwhile will be without Justin Herbert who has a hand injury. This game should tilt heavily for Denver, but I think that Nix will toss a couple first half TDs at +102 odds to get this Seltzr Guy pick to cash!
