Seltzr Guy Six-Pack: Week 8

We are officially half way through the season and I would say that so far the league has not panned out how we expected. The Colts have the best record in the NFL. Could we see them actually make some noise in January? I guess that is really unknowable for now. Nonetheless, I am happy to have continued providing some winnable bets which I hope some people have been tailing.

There are clearly some offenses to take stock in as well as some to avoid at all costs. Stay away from Miami and the New York Jets offense. However, buy in to the Colts, Chiefs, Cowboys, and Patriots!

1) ML - Money line

Missed out on the ML bet last week as I forgot that the Falcons like to leave their offense performances for home games instead. Rough week last week for the team. I’m going back to the Sunday Night Football game this week though. Green Bay is heading to Pittsburgh to play an aged Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are ML favorites at -185; go ahead and lock it in. I am sure that their is some sentiment the Steelers could win, but I just don’t see it. The Packers haven’t really looked explosive on offense lately. I think this is a get right spot for them.

2) O/U - Over / Under

I also will be targeting the Thursday night game Over today. The Chargers are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Colts while putting up nearly 500 yards of offense. The Vikings meanwhile are a tough defense, but have the firepower to get touchdowns. The line is at 44.5 points, which I think could easily cash if the game ends up 27-20 or something like that. I’m taking the over at -112 odds for this midweek game in Los Angeles.

3) Point Spread

For Week 8, I am going to have the Chiefs cover the spread of 13.5 points at -103 odds. I’ll be honest, this is an insane line, but the Washington Commanders have already ruled out Jayden Daniels. No one believes in them without their dynamic QB. Marcus Mariota cannot keep the offense running like Mahomes on the other side. The Chiefs crushed Vegas 31-0 last week.

4) Receptions

The Nico Collins 6+ catches bet was tough as he finished the day with three catches on ten targets before being taken out of the game due to a concussion. He did get the attention needed to reach the goal, but just couldn’t bring in the passes from Stroud. This week, I am predicting that Bo Nix will complete 5+ passes to Cortland Sutton against the Cowboys defense. After a historical comeback last week, Denver should be able to carry the offensive momentum from that fourth quarter into Week 8. Locked in Sutton for 5+ catches at -127 odds!

5) Anytime Touchdown Bet

Hoping to extend this TD scoring streak to four! I think Josh Allen should get a rushing touchdown in this week against the Panthers. Surprisingly Carolina has won three games in a row which should make this game a closer matchup than we think. I have Allen hitting pay dirt at -133 odds. He had a rough game against Atlanta two weeks ago, so I am confident he will get the Bills back to their winning ways while putting the offense on his shoulders.

6) Passing TDs

The Falcons have scored 78 points combined in their three home games - they somehow forget they can do this on the road as well. I digress. This matchup versus the Dolphins is actually pretty significant as a loss here could really begin the undoing of Raheem Morris’ likely short stint as the Falcons head coach. While on the other sideline, Mike McDaniels is coaching for his own job after Miami has dropped to 1-5. Atlanta is 8 point favorites right now, but I am not super confident this game will be a blow out; I’ll take Penix tossing 2+ TD passes at -109 odds. He has looked much better at home and this defense should offer a nice way for him to air it out downfield to his receivers or at least a screen to Bijan who will do all the work himself if need be.
